Garden is a specialist market. It’s seasonal, affected by the weather and fiercely competitive at retail. The people buying your products might be lifelong gardeners, enthusiastic beginners or people who simply want to keep a houseplant alive.
WrightObara is a creative marketing agency with extensive experience in the garden sector. We help brands work out what they need to say, then turn that thinking into distinctive creative work that helps products get ranged, noticed and chosen.
From brand positioning and packaging to POS, campaigns, websites and film, we bring strategy, words and visuals together around the commercial problem.
"...a true partner to the Evergreen team, not only being exceptionally agile and responsive to briefs... but also adding value to building stronger communications and campaigns at every stage of development."

The pressures start long before a product reaches the shelf.
Buyers need to understand where it fits, why consumers will want it and why it deserves space. Marketing teams are working around seasonal deadlines, retailer requirements, changing ranges and demand that can shift dramatically with the weather.
At shelf, another problem appears. Many garden categories rely on similar colours, claims and visual cues. Some of those conventions help shoppers understand what they’re looking at, but follow them too closely and brands start to merge into one another.
Communication also has to work across very different levels of knowledge. It needs to be accessible to someone buying their first plant feed without sounding simplistic to an experienced gardener.
Understanding those tensions helps us make better creative decisions.
“They demonstrated a deep understanding of marketing, and of our category in particular. On top of that, they’re a fantastic team to work with: collaborative, insightful, and genuinely lovely people.”

We tend to get involved when a good product or brand isn’t being presented as compellingly as it could be.
Sometimes the problem starts with the positioning or message. Sometimes packaging needs to work harder. A new product might need a strong launch idea, or the sales team may need a better way to present the opportunity to retail buyers.
We work across brand strategy and identity, packaging and shelf communications, campaigns, websites, imagery and film, using the right combination for the job rather than forcing every project through the same process.
"What sets WrightObara apart is the depth of thinking behind their work. It’s not just about eye-catching campaigns - it’s about building branding that’s ownable, layered, and commercially strategic."

We’ve worked with established international garden businesses, ambitious challengers and specialist brands across garden care, watering, growing and related categories.
Our work has included long-term creative partnerships, brand development, product launches, packaging, retail communications, buyer sell-in, training, photography and film.
We also host The Underground, the garden-industry podcast and official podcast partner of Glee. It gives us regular conversations with manufacturers, retailers, growers, marketers and industry organisations about the issues shaping the sector.
We don’t have to learn Garden from scratch when a brief arrives. We already understand a great deal of the context around it.
We write about the problems we encounter in real projects and the questions marketing teams are dealing with.
“From the first pitch we were impressed and are delighted with the end results… they’ve been a joy to work with.”

You might already know exactly what you need. Or you may simply know that the current approach isn’t working hard enough.
Either is a perfectly good place to start.
